Dolomite Point Redevelopment Project won a Special Award, and a Gold Award in the Tourism and Leisure category. The Judges comments noted:

The Dolomite Point Redevelopment Project at Punakaiki enhances visitor infrastructure at the iconic Pancake Rocks and Blowholes, seamlessly blending sustainability with functionality. The visitor Experience Centre demonstrates what’s possible when environmental stewardship, cultural sensitivity, and design innovation come together with care and clarity of purpose.

Located in an ecologically sensitive area, the Dolomite Point Redevelopment Project required special consideration for native species, including lizards, migratory seabirds, and the great spotted kiwi. The result is a built environment that treads lightly in form and footprint. Beyond its environmental commitments, the project also prioritises social outcomes, engaging the local community and partnering with iwi to reflect cultural narratives embedded in the land.

Hotel Grand Chancellor.

The Hotel Grand Chancellor won an Innovation Award and a Gold Award in the Tourism and Leisure category. The Innovation Award recognises a project that has taken an innovative approach and achieved a positive outcome.

The Judges comments said:

The 12-storey Hotel Grand Chancellor brings a premium accommodation option to Auckland’s city centre. It offers 191 guest rooms, stunning northern views, and a central courtyard with a lush biophilic design. Located adjacent to the New Zealand International Convention Centre, the hotel incorporates a green façade, 10-storey indoor climbing plants, and native coastal flora, blending modern luxury with a connection to nature.

Tuhiraki AgResearch Centre

Tuhiraki AgResearch won a Gold Award and Category Award for Industrial projects.

The judges said:

As the corporate headquarters and South Island campus, AgResearch’s new facility in Lincoln is an impressive, future-focused research hub. This highly collaborative project was driven by a commitment to sustainable agriculture and biological science, particularly in their user-led design process. By involving researchers, educators, and operational staff from the outset, the final building is tailored to a range of specialised needs.
