Kaiarataki | Professional
I started working at Boffa Miskell as a Terrestrial Ecologist in 2022, specialising in avifauna, botany and wetland delineation. I have worked on a wide variety of project types, including renewable energy, aggregate extraction, subdivisions, roading, public land use, reporting for councils, biosecurity trials and council and EPA enforcement cases.
In my capacity, I have conducted ecological field surveys for avifauna, vegetation, lizards, bats, frogs, kauri snails, freshwater fish and invertebrates, biodiversity, pest monitoring and ecological monitoring of restoration projects. I have also undertaken desktop assessments of environmental effects for resource consent applications, prepared vegetation and fauna management plans, calculated biodiversity offsets, developed ecological planting plans, identified ecological constraints, conducted biodiversity mapping, assessed blue-green networks, and prepared biosecurity and state of the environment reports.
While working at Boffa Miskell, I have developed novel avifauna and biodiversity field survey protocols and have conducted plant growth research to aid carbon sequestration and biodiversity offsetting calculations.
