The New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects Tuia Pito Ora (NZILA) is the internationally recognised professional body of qualified landscape architects in New Zealand.

Rangitahi Kawe and Pete Whiting have joined the six-person NZILA Board, joining the Chair and Deputy Chair as one of four board members who manage the strategic direction of the Institute throughout their two-year term.

Rangitahi is based in Tauranga, with affiliations to Ngāti Ranginui, Ngāti Maniapoto, Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Porou and Ngāti Kahungunu. Deeply connected to his whakapapa, Rangitahi brings his culture, experience, and skills to his work at Boffa Miskell and his role with New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects Tuia Pito Ora.

Rangitahi was recognised with a 2024 NZILA President's Award for Emerging Leader. Rangitahi’s involvement with the NZILA includes the Institute’s Creative Panel, which helped prepare the Conference theme and sub-themes, co-ordinate keynote speakers, and prepare content for conference workshops and panel discussions.

Pete is an Associate Partner, based in Auckland. He has been the landscape design manager for notable and multi-award-winning infrastructure projects including the Newmarket Viaduct, Waterview Connection, the Victoria Park Tunnel, Myers Park Underpass and the NCTIR (Kaikoura) transport recovery.

Pete was previously Managing Principal of the Auckland office, and has mentored several early-career landscape architects through the NZILA Registration process, along with serving on the Registration Interview Panel.
