2025 Partner Announcement
21 July 2025
Landscape architect Yoko Tanaka is named a Partner

Yoko Tanaka joined Boffa Miskell in 2013 and over the past decade, she has steadily advanced through leadership roles, serving as Discipline Coordinator, Team Manager, and most recently, Technical Lead: Landscape Architecture. In each of these positions, she has championed excellence and innovation across our landscape design work.
With nearly twenty years of professional experience in New Zealand and the United Kingdom, Yoko brings a wealth of expertise in designing and delivering landscape schemes. Her portfolio spans mixed-use public realm projects, town centre developments, urban streetscapes, open space planning, and institutional landscapes for schools and hospitals.
Yoko is widely recognised for her high-quality public realm work, where she thoughtfully integrates cultural narratives, historical context, and community needs into urban environments. Drawing on her dual training in Landscape Architecture and Building Architecture, she delivers responsive and integrated design outcomes that enhance both function and identity.
Among her many notable projects are the High Street and Emily Place Improvements, Sylvia Park Precinct Development, Ōtāhuhu Town Centre Upgrade, and the Federal Street and Bledisloe Lane Upgrades. Her work has helped transform key urban spaces across Auckland, from the city centre to suburban hubs, enhancing the pedestrian experience, improving safety, and bringing more life and connection to the public realm.
